When clients come to me to support them in naturally reaching their wellness goals, we put together a program to address their holistic health that is customized for their specific wellness goals and challenges. The common thread between the programs is the design of the body.

Construction: The body is an organism made of organ systems, made of organs, made of tissues, made of cells, made of molecules, made of atoms, made of subatomic particles including protons, neutrons and electrons. So basically, we are made of subatomic particles grouped together in a specific fashion. The important thing to remember about atoms is that they are more space & energy than physical particles. Therefore we are more energy than anything else. Because of this, proper energetic flow is the key to homeostasis or balanced health.

Disease, or dis-ease, is a blockage of proper flow in the body. Disease is caused by interference from toxins, pathogens, or injury. Since so many processes of the body are interconnected just as creeks, streams, and rivers all flow to the larger bodies of water, if left uncorrected, an imbalance in one area can lead to other imbalances as well. If beavers dam up a little creek, lots of flooding and damage can happen even though it’s just one small area that is affected. If left unrepaired for a long period of time the imbalance often becomes accepted or even “normal” and additional imbalances (symptoms) may begin to appear in order to remind you that something is wrong.

Health comes from the removal of blockages and restoration of energy flow. Health does not come from drugs. Drugs make symptoms harder to see so your body needs to yell louder or find new ways to get your attention that there is an imbalance present.

In my office, I address six areas of healing:

Neuroendocrine Support (hormones and the nervous system) – balancing the body’s communication systems.

Digestive Support – to clear the primary means of detoxification and optimize nutrient absorption

Filtration & Drainage – removing the blockages and clearing additional detoxification pathways such as the lymphatics, liver, kidneys, skin, etc.

Elimination of Causal Factors – targeting chemical, biological, emotional, or physical blockages

Cellular Repair - providing a blueprint for cells to return to their normal state

Healthy Maintenance – supporting the cells through nutrition and hydration

The tools I use to address these six areas are:

Essential Oils – herbal remedies in their most concentrated form www.TurboHerbal.com

Homeopathy – a form of energy balancing that is over 200 years old

Herbs – plants with healing powers

Nutrition – the foundation to any wellness program

Biofeedback/BioEnergetic Therapy – identification and reduction of stress in the energy field

The videos below are testimonials from Naturally Unbridled Wellness clients who experienced great results with a wide variety of wellness challenges from physical pain to emotional trauma.

Regardless of the species, restoring health often requires a combination of most, if not all of these tools and strategies. If you are interested in developing a wellness plan instead of disease management, contact me to set up an initial consultation either via the phone/Skype or in my Onalaska, WI office. There is no charge for the initial consultation as we will both use it to see if we want to work together. Email me at NU at NaturallyUnbridled. com or call six-0-eight 7-9-nine eight-3-2-six

Lots of people will tell you that they got the flu after getting the flu shot. Odds are, they did not get the flu from the flu shot but they caught the flu (or something else) because of the flu shot. Confused yet? Read on.

These days, very few vaccines have viable pathogens (live germs) in them. Most have killed, damaged, or dismantled germs along with something called an adjuvant and some preservative. The job of the preservative is obvious; it’s to keep the vial of vaccine from going bad/spoiling. There are different types of preservatives including Thimerosal which contains toxic mercury. The job of the adjuvant is to stimulate your immune system and get you to “mount an immune response”. The adjuvant is basically an irritant that causes some inflammation in your body to get your cells to start making antibodies against the pathogen (germ) that is in the vaccine – just in case you might actually encounter it naturally. Your body recognizes adjuvant as being a toxic, foreign invader and it responds to defend you. Unlike pathogens (germs), adjuvants are unnatural.

So when you are injected with a vaccine you are getting a sample of the germ along with an irritant that is supposed to inspire your body to make antibodies against the germ in the vaccine. Sounds simple, right? Here’s why so many people get sick after getting a vaccine:

When you get vaccinated/immunized your immune system thinks you have just had a massive exposure to a disease and it goes into full on, red alert, attack mode! Theoretically, it focuses your defenses on making a ton of antibodies against the thing you were vaccinated against. This has a Trojan horse effect. Since your immune system gets so distracted by the vaccine other pathogens, including other strains of the flu, have the opportunity to sneak in and attack while your immune system isn’t looking. Have you ever heard about someone who starts out with a viral infection and then ends up with a secondary bacterial infection a week or so later? Same deal. The body spends so much time and energy fighting the original virus that the bacteria can sneak in and attack. When your immune system is distracted by a legitimate or fabricated invader (actual pathogen or a vaccine), it leaves you open to attack by countless others.

What’s a better way? Of course the decision on vaccines should be made by you, after doing the research, using reliable sources – not from reading this article, and probably not from commercials. (see my article on the Shingles Vaccine). There are tons of statistics about the lack of effectiveness of vaccines, but that‘s an article for another day. Remember, a germ is like a seed – it needs fertile ground in order to grow. The best thing you can do is to not provide it with a welcoming place to grow. Make your body strong through whole-food nutrition, lots of pure water, exercise, and positive thinking. If you need a little help creating an action plan for your path to wellness go to www.NaturallyUnbridled.com/intake and set up a consultation.

<img class="alignleft size-medium src="http://naturallyunbridled.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2013/03/Aromatherapy.jpg"/> Have you ever gotten to a competition and either the horse or the rider has some kind of emotional glitch that prevents them from performing to their potential? Stage fright? Performance anxiety? Ego? Power struggle? Flashbacks to a past trauma? So many emotional hurdles can prevent the equestrian team from doing what they have trained to do when they get to a competition. Fortunately, the sense of smell is directly connected to the limbic (emotional/memory) center of the brain. When the molecules of Therapeutic Grade Essential Oils are inhaled, they immediately begin to balance brainwaves helping to restore emotional balance. This article discusses some of my favorite essential oils that come in handy if the horse, rider, or both to combat the emotional demons.

The first thing to know is how to “do” aromatherapy. For humans, it’s as simple as putting a drop or two of a therapeutic grade essential oil into the palm of your hand, rubbing your hands together, without touching your eyes – cupping your hands over your nose, and taking some deep breaths through your nose. You can also put a drop over your heart or your solar plexus.

Since animals have an intensified sense of smell, aromatherapy is tremendously effective. Simply opening the bottle and allowing them to smell it (hold on tight!) may be enough. You can also put a couple of drops in your hand and rub it on their chest or ears. These VIDEOS are great demonstrations of using Therapeutic Grade essential oils with horses.

This video shows how to use essential oils topically.

The following is a short list of Essential Oils and Essential Oil blends that I like to use to balance emotions of horse and rider. This list is for informational purposes only and is not intended to treat or prescribe for any condition. This should not replace veterinary advice or qualified training by an equestrian expert.

Valor – My favorite for confidence and balance. Can help with performance anxiety and physical balance for the rider who may struggle with balance in the saddle. In addition to inhaling, rub some on the bottoms of the rider’s feet and put a drop over the heart.

Vetiver – For the horse or rider who is easily distracted from the task at hand.

Believe – For the horse or rider who doesn’t think they can do it. Combine with Valor and or Envision.

Peace & Calming – For the horse or rider who gets stressed out about being at a show. Helps with shipping and nervous stall vices.

Harmony – Use for both horse and rider to help them to tune into one another.

Acceptance – For the horse who wants to make all the decisions. Combine with Harmony or Surrender.

Dragon Time – For the hormonal mare.

Marjoram – For the hormonal stallion or gelding that thinks he is one.

Envision – For the horse or rider who has trouble visualizing success. Combine with Highest Potential.

Highest Potential – For the confidence to be the best.

Forgiveness – For the horse or rider who has not forgiven themselves or their partner for a previous mistake.

Inner Child – For the lesson horse or veteran show horse who has lost their spark.

Motivation or En-R-Gee – For the horse who is lazy.

Present Time – For the horse or rider who is focusing on past mistakes or successes or is worried about the championship before completing the qualifier. Be in the moment and focus on the task at hand.

Release – Helps to let go of anger and resentment.

Transformation – For the horse or rider who is changing disciplines or divisions. (Like the off-track thoroughbred who is training to be an open jumper)

Trauma Life – For the rescued or formerly abused animals or those that have survived a barn fire, trailering accident, or other trauma. For the rider who needs support getting back in the saddle after a fall.

Stress Away – For the trainer, instructor, groom, or parent who is managing a string of horses and riders at a competition.

ORDER OILS: Essential Oils can be ordered at www.TurboHerbal.com. Click “Sign Up Here” then choose “Customer” or “Distributor”. If you have any questions please submit a message via www.NaturallyUnbridled.com/contact and I will call or email you to discuss your questions.

LEARN MORE: Beyond emotional balancing, essential oils can be used for physical issues as well. Read my “Top 10 Essential Oils for Animals” article for more information. http://naturallyunbridled.com/blog/2012/12/top-10-animal-essential-oils/

TAKE IT TO THE NEXT LEVEL: Your horse is only half of the equation. You spend lots of time, money, and energy making sure that your horse has everything it needs, but how are you doing? Stressed out? Not sleeping? Eating microwaved and fast food? In order for the horse & rider team to reach their highest potential BOTH HALVES of the team need to be in balance. My home study course focuses on the half above the saddle. Since you took the time to read this article, I’ll honor your efforts with $100 off coupon code. Simply go to www.ShowRingSuccess.net and use coupon code BLOG313 to save $100 off the sale price.

Ghostbusters aside, I often ask this question to people: “When it comes to making health choices, are you seeking advice from someone who is an expert in wellness or an expert in disease?” Sadly, medical doctors are rarely experts in wellness. Less than 6% of medical schools even offer nutrition classes and in most of them it’s an elective (optional) course. When was the last time your doctor asked you how much water you drink or how often you poop? They ask how much alcohol, cigarettes, and sexual partners you have – all focused on disease. In my experience, most medical professionals are far from the picture of “health”. They are overweight, their skin lacks vibrancy, and they are probably taking a handful of prescriptions and drinking Diet Coke.

Medical Doctors are practically mandated to attend drug conferences. You see, in order to keep their medical license, medical doctors (like other professionals) must earn continuing education credits. In theory, this is a good idea. No one should stop learning when they graduate. Here’s the sad reality… When choosing continuing education classes/workshops, a medical doctor can get online and do some research and find a natural health course that is approved for credits, they can pay the registration fee, and pay their own expenses to go take the course. Or they could go to one of the countless continuing education courses that are sponsored by drug companies. These courses are often held at luxury resorts where the drug companies wine and dine the doctors, often pay their travel expenses, and during which the drug companies “educate” the doctors on their latest research and the “benefits” of their drugs. They often give them bags, pens, and other promotional items along with free samples of drugs for them to dole out. Which choice do you think your doctor makes? Pay their own way to learn how to lower blood pressure with breathing techniques or get wined and dined for free at a luxury resort?

I don’t blame the doctors entirely. Most of them head to medical school with the idea of wanting to help people. I doubt they apply to medical school thinking “I want to learn how to carefully balance a wide variety of pharmaceuticals to mask the disease symptoms my patients present with.” No, I think they have higher expectations, but only a few jump ship and become experts in wellness instead of experts in disease.

The good news is that there are many qualified wellness coaches, educators, and practitioners who focus on holistic health – body, mind, and spirit. They don’t focus on eliminating a symptom. They focus on the whole person and seek to determine where the imbalance originated and how it can naturally be restored to balance. Wellness professionals focus on whole-food nutrition, proper hydration, digestion, metabolism, sleep, state of mind, exercise, relationships, and all other aspects of holistic health.

So next time you see your doctor, ask them if they consider themselves to be an expert in wellness or an answer in disease. Then ask them to defend their answer. Truth is, they probably think they are experts in wellness. Therein lies the problem.

This morning was interesting for me. I noticed that one of my tires needed air so I decided to swing by the “Kwik Trip” truck stop/convenience store on my way to work. Since I was there, I thought I would grab some snacks for work. The following is an account of my interaction with the Shift Manager with whom I have had countless, pleasant interactions before. Actually, I recall that she was the person who cashed me out on the day that we moved from New Hampshire to Minnesota a year and a half ago. I remember thinking how pleasant she was and when she said “Thank you. Stop again.” I knew she meant it.

I went into the store and grabbed a basket and gathered a few items to purchase. As I approached the counter I see the Shift Manager is behind it strapping assorted fruits to Styrofoam boards and wrapping them in plastic wrap. I place my items on the counter including 4 bananas, a bag of baby carrots, an apple, two bags of nuts, and a bottle of water. The Shift Manager greets me and I ask her where the pump is to put air in a tire. She tells me and then informs me of their specials on Angus Beef Burgers and Chicken something-or-others. “No, thank you. I’m a vegetarian.” I replied. The Shift Manager stopped scanning my items for a moment and stared at me unblinking and wide-eyed for a moment while she processed the words she just heard. I envisioned a bubble over her head that read “Wow! So they really do exist. I wonder if unicorns are real too?”

After the transaction, the environmentalist in me felt the need to say one more thing. I gestured toward the fruit that she had been strapping to Styrofoam trays and said “You know, that’s really a crime against the environment.” (And I thought she looked confused before!) Dumbstruck, she replied “What?” Pointing to the fruit “You’re taking fully biodegradable fruit and wrapping it in plastic and Styrofoam that never breaks down. It’s bad for the planet.” Still looking at me completely perplexed, I added “If your management ever asks about feedback from customers, you can tell them I said that.” The following was her reply that took her several seconds to painfully force over her vocal chords: “O…..K……………. Thanks…….Stop… again.” I’m not sure, but I don’t think she really meant it this time. I imagine she will have quite the story (about the crazy vegetarian she waited on) to share with her colleagues over a bowl of beer cheese soup with bacon and an Angus burger.

When I tell people that my mother is a psychic medium, a channel, their responses vary greatly. Many people immediately ask for her number. Others ask what it was like growing up with a psychic mother (she actually didn’t tap into her gift until I was grown). And then there are the people who think the whole idea is either crazy or evil.I need to start off with the crazy/evil idea. I’ll give you a little on the “crazy” part as it is hard to comprehend that people can communicate with those who have crossed over but the “evil” part is absurd.

At the beginning of every reading, my mother says a prayer of protection and calls upon your angels, ancestors, loved ones, and spirit guides to bring you messages that are only for your highest good. Her messages are not scary or full of threats and fear. They are messages of love, support, and guidance and they often include tears of joy.

Lorraine’s readings are pleasant and comforting

I have had the privilege of helping my mother at several of her in-home reading parties where people came to my home, or we went to theirs, and they all have their turn getting a reading from my mother. Through this experience, I have seen countless people receive comfort, peace, and confirmation that their loved ones are still nearby and with them. The peace this brings them can only be seen as a gift. There is nothing – NOTHING – evil about this. It is a blessing.

It’s intriguing to watch my mother give a reading. If you have ever seen video of Esther Hicks channeling Abraham (of Law of Attraction fame), it is not dissimilar to that. Whether in person or over the phone, my mother goes through the same steps. She says some prayers, goes into a meditation, prays for protection, calls in your angels, ancestors, loved ones, and guides, and begins the reading. She usually records the readings because she goes so fast; there is no way you could write everything down. She will usually deliver a litany of messages asking occasionally “Do you understand?” Then there is time for questions. It is fun, amazing, and certainly reassuring.

The Real Deal: Unfortunately there are a lot of people out there who claim to be psychic who do not work in the light. They often have roadside, walk-in businesses where you come in and they fill you with fear by telling you things like “There is a woman close to you who talks about you behind your back.” WALK OUT! The best way to find a good psychic is through word of mouth. I am telling you both through personal experience, and through the testimony of others, that my mother, Lorraine Smith is the real deal.

Learn More: If you are interested in learning more about what she does, or scheduling a reading with her, please visit her website: http://www.psychicmediumlorrainesmith.com/ and if you have a reading, please come back to this blog page and leave a comment about your experience.

Oh, and I should clarify… she talks to live people too.

Maybe You Should Be!

Ok, it’s not what you think. I’m not talking about “that” type of acid; today I’m talking about stomach acid. Now, you may be even more confused because you’ve never heard a commercial telling you to do anything but block your stomach acid. So, I want to share some thoughts.

Stomach acid is critical for proper digestion. You need it to break down food into the molecules that are, or help you to form, nutrients. Insufficient stomach acid can lead to malnutrition (not to be confused with starvation) because certain nutrients cannot be extracted from the food you have eaten. Constipation and other problems may be the result. Many people who think they have excess stomach acid, perhaps they have even been diagnosed by a physician, actually have a stomach acid deficiency. This is very common.

You NEED Stomach Acid

The symptoms of stomach acid deficiency and stomach acid surplus are virtually the same. When you have a deficiency in stomach acid, the food in your stomach just sits there – putrefying. The rancid/fermenting food generates gas and heat which can lead to belching, bloating, and “acid” reflux.Medical professionals are quick to prescribe acid blockers for anything associated with the upper G.I. tract.

For crying out loud, don’t ask your doctor if the purple pill is right for you!

I recently did a consult for a person who had what sounded like food poisoning or the flu and her doctor prescribed her acid blockers (which makes no sense). I also have a client who has had stomach pain for the past 3 years (before she started seeing me) and her physicians have prescribed her the entire spectrum of acid blockers and none of them help. Do you think anyone would have extrapolated that if the acid blockers aren’t helping then perhaps excess stomach acid isn’t the problem? Another client told me that she just can’t eat eggs because they just seem to “sit there” afterwards. With the trick I’m offering below, she is now enjoying Sunday brunch with eggs with her family.

Here’s a self test you can perform to see if creating a more acidic stomach might be your solution. Half an hour before a meal, drink a cup of water with a tablespoon of raw apple cider vinegar (Seriously, you want the “raw” kind. The pasteurized kind will work but it is disgusting to drink). My preference is to make a “tea” which is simply a cup of hot water, a tablespoon of raw apple cider vinegar, and a dollop of honey. Yum! It’s almost like mulled apple cider… almost. If you notice that your digestion improves, then it’s possible that your digestive issues may be due to insufficient stomach acid.

Getting off acid blockers: If you want to stop taking acid blockers, first – talk to you doctor (disclaimer). When you stop taking acid blockers, you need to do so gradually because your stomach is pretty smart. When the stomach detects that there is not enough acid, it sends chemical messages to your brain and your brain responds by telling the acid-producing part of your stomach to get to work. Acid blockers “block” this communication. Your stomach responds by shouting louder “We need more acid down here!” If you suddenly stop taking acid blockers that message finally gets through – loud and clear – and your stomach will produce too much acid. Tapering the dose over a period of weeks can help to bring the communication between your stomach and your brain back into balance.

If you believe that you have insufficient stomach acid, you may want to support your stomach in properly digesting food by either using the apple cider vinegar trick above, or taking a hydrochloric acid (HCl) supplement. My favorite solution is “Essentialzyme” which not only provides a supplemental source of HCL but it also provides a wide variety of digestive enzymes combined with essential oils known to support the digestive system. Did I mention it is my FAVORITE? Quantum Biofeedback Therapy can also help to reduce stress and restore energetic balance to the digestive system.

One last interesting tidbit… insufficient stomach acid is most common in people with blue eyes, but it can happen to anyone.

I call essential oils “Turbo Herbal Medicine.” The powerful remedies have been used at least as far back as Egyptian times and continue to benefit people, animals, and even plants around the world today. The following is a list of the essential oils I use most with my animals and those of my friends and clients.

VIDEO: Webinar on Top 10 Essential Oils for Animals

Frankincense – I always say “They didn’t give it to the Christ child for nothing!” It’s one of my first choices for animals. I even use it, undiluted, on my chickens. It’s the only oil that I’ll use undiluted on chickens – it’s that safe. I turn to Frankincense whenever one of my animals seems sick or maybe just doesn’t seem right. (Item #3548)

DiGize – This is a digestive blend that I turn to when any of my animals has a stomach issue. A colicky horse, a cat with a hairball, or a dog with gas after eating something she shouldn’t have. With the small animals, I typically put a drop on my hand and rub it on their tummy. With the horses, I’ll do that but I’ll also give them some orally. I would do that with the dog too but I haven’t had to at this point. (Item #3324)

Copaiba – I ALWAYS have Copaiba on hand for a couple of reasons. First, because it has tremendous anti-inflammatory properties so if the dog is limping or one of the horses is lame or gets kicked, I’ll put Copaiba undiluted on the dog and the horses and I’ll give it to them orally as well. Recently, I’ve helped a couple of dogs with injuries by applying copaiba and I gave it to one of them in a capsule too. This essential oil has virtually no odor. The second reason I love Copaiba is because it’s an oil amplifier! When you apply Copaiba on top of another essential oil, the effects of the first oil(s) will be magnified! You know I use this every time I use a rare or expensive oil to get more bang for my buck! (Item #3431)

Lavender – The Swiss army knife of essential oils. I always use Lavender if I don’t have something else that I would’ve liked to use. Lavender is often the next best thing due to its adaptogenic properties. However, I do turn to it first for any skin issues on the pets and horses. (Item #3575)

Thieves – I just finished clearing up a sinus infection in my 28-year-old mare using Thieves essential oil blend which gets its name from the days of the plague when a band of thieves used herbs, spices, and essential oils to keep from catching the plague from the victims who were sick and dying. This is a natural antibiotic, anti-viral, anti-fungal, and anti-parasite blend. When I have a sick chicken, I’ll put a couple of drops of Thieves in the coop for the aromatherapy effects but I’ll also add a drop to the water as well. I put it in the feed of my mare and she ate it readily; 10 to 20 drops in her grain for 2 weeks. (Item #3423)

Peace & Calming – Whenever I go to apply oils to an animal that is sick or hurt, I like to have Peace & Calming on hand just in case. One terrier that I was doing a Raindrop technique on was acting like a typical terrier and bouncing all over the place. I simply opened my bottle of Peace & Calming and held it out for him to smell it. The terrier took a whiff and instantly laid down. The owner looked at me in amazement and I simply replied with “I know, they’re magic!” I like Peace & Calming for anytime I need an animal to relax; shipping, separation anxiety, showing, or treating a wound. (Item #3393)

Peppermint – A personal fave for myself, I like to use Peppermint for a few different things with the animals. It’s great for gas so it’s a must have for a horse who might have gas colic. I also put a couple of drops in my mares feed when she had that sinus infection because peppermint helps to open up a stuffy nose. Plus, horses love Peppermint! Additionally, I no longer pull ticks off my animals. I simply apply a drop of Peppermint oil to the tick and within seconds, it lets go on its own. No more fishing tick heads out of the skin! (Item #3614)

Purification – In addition to its air cleaning properties (litter box), I like Purification for any bug bites or stings since it works to neutralize any venom that can cause inflammation or irritation. Whenever I remove a tick from the dog, she gets a drop of Purification on the bite spot in case the tick was carrying Lyme disease or some other pathogen. I use it for ticks on the horses too. It also has some insect-repelling properties so it’s a win-win. (Item #3399)

PanAway – With Wintergreen and other anti-inflammatory and analgesic (pain killing) essential oils in this blend, it’s great for injuries, arthritis, and sore muscles. I recently put PanAway on the coronary band of a horse who had a recent abscess and he showed improvement in just a few minutes. (Item #3390 and #3391 – two sizes)

Valor – Ahhhh, Valor. This blend provides confidence while balancing the energy in the body. I love it for a horse who needs confidence in his/her work or in competition. The same goes for the rider, by the way. I like to use it at the end of an oils application or biofeedback session to help the animal to hold the results of the therapy longer. I also like Valor for my 18-year old, somewhat senile cat when he gets a little insecure and confused. I simply put a single drop in my hands, rub them together, let him smell them, and lightly pet him. (Item #3429, bottle & #3529 roll-on)

BEST VALUE: Except for Copaiba and DiGize, all of the oils listed above are included in the “Everyday Oils” collection along with Lemon essential oil. (Item #3695 for customers or #3700 to enroll as a Distributor and save)

The hair on animals actually works like a wick to siphon the oils into the skin where they are absorbed into the bloodstream. Less is often more when it comes to essential oils, especially with cats. Diffusing therapeutic grade essential oils into the air is a great way to use oils on sensitive house pets and birds.

Of course we use all of these oils on ourselves too! I’m often asked which essential oils I recommend for horses and pets – and now you know.

Food shopping can make me a little nuts. Over the years I’ve learned how to do healthy shopping but when I’m at the store and I get a glimpse of what ends up in other people’s carts, it’s obvious that the people who do the marketing for food and other grocery items are pretty good at their jobs. So here are a few tips to keep in mind when you’re at the store.

1) “Healthy” usually means “Less Toxic than our other crap. One of my nutrition professors once said “never ever believe anything on the front of any food label – ever!” The only things that matter are the ingredients and the nutrition profile. The rest is just decoration. You could have the most beautiful house with pristine landscaping and an elegant fountain and it looks perfect on the outside – but on the inside it looks like an episode of “Hoarders.” Many foods that are marketed as “healthy” contain simple carbohydrates, empty calories, and artificial ingredients. No natural health professional would call these products “healthy.”

2) Natural foods can have a dirty little secret. Maybe you read on the internet that walnuts are a great source of omega-3 fats so you go to the store and, looking for a healthy snack, you grab a bag of walnuts out of the bakery aisle. You feel pretty good about your choice and since the bag contains “only” walnuts you didn’t bother to flip it over and read the ingredients. That’s where you went wrong. You see, the walnuts were coated in BHT, a preservative with links to cancer. Read all labels, even on stuff you think is clean, pure, and natural.

3) The Personal Care aisle should be called the Poisonal Care aisle. Artificial colors, synthetic perfumes, and cancer-causing parabens abound. Your skin is a semi-permeable membrane. We know this because if things couldn’t be absorbed through your skin, there would be no such thing as a nicotine patch. What you put on your skin can be absorbed through your pores and into your bloodstream. Everything from shampoo, toothpaste and deodorant to hairspray and lotion, most people coat themselves in over 100 toxins every day. This is over and above anything toxins that you are exposed to via the air, water, and food that you eat.

Here are my suggestions.

Read the labels on everything that you buy. Avoid artificial colors, flavors, sweeteners, dyes, perfumes, fragrances, and preservatives. Avoid fluoride and parabens. Remember, what goes on your skin goes in your skin. Keep it natural.

I use and recommend the personal care products available at www.TurboHerbal.com

Do you feel like you have tried everything but you are still struggling to accomplish a wellness goal for yourself, your family, or even your animals? Quantum Biofeedback approaches wellness from a sub-molecular level by balancing and neutralizing stressors. Here’s a basic introduction:

Legal: Let me first start by saying that Biofeedback Therapy does not diagnose, treat, prescribe for, or cure any disease or condition. Please consult your preferred healthcare provider or veterinarian when making health choices for yourself, your family, or your animals.

Atoms are more empty space than solid particles.

What is Biofeedback Therapy? Biofeedback Therapy differs from pharmaceuticals and nutrients in that those work on biochemistry where Biofeedback works on biophysics. If you recall from science class, everything is made up of atoms. Atoms contain a nucleus, protons, neutrons, and electrons. The amount of space in an atom is significantly greater than the amount of solids in an atom but because the protons, neutrons, and electrons are moving at such a rapid pace things (including people and animals) feel solid even though they are more space than solid. Since the particles in the atom are moving so quickly they create a vibration and that vibration creates an energetic frequency. The Quantum SCIO Biofeedback device simply detects stressors in the energetic frequencies of the person or animal and supplies a balancing or neutralizing frequency.

Similar to Anti-Virus Software: Think about the anti-virus software on your computer. It scans endless amounts of code looking for code sequences that are problematic. The Quantum SCIO Biofeedback Device scans over 12,000 frequencies and looks for imbalances or impedances and then sends a corrective signal.
How does it work? The Quantum SCIO works like a 2-way radio. It scans for a signal and then reads it, then based on the information it receives, it emits a signal in response. For example, if the SCIO detects the frequency of the pathogen that causes Lyme Disease, it will send the opposite frequency to neutralize the energy.

Balances and Neutralizes Energetic Stressors

How does it work? The Quantum SCIO works like a 2-way radio. It scans for a signal and then reads it, then based on the information it receives, it emits a signal in response. For example, if the SCIO detects the frequency of the pathogen that causes Lyme Disease, it will send the opposite frequency to neutralize the energy.

Wired or Wireless: The Quantum SCIO device is capable of providing therapy on site or at a distance. Compare it to cable TV vs. satellite TV. Cable TV sends a frequency through a wire. Satellite TV sends a frequency through space. The TV receives the signal and broadcasts it to you. The SCIO can be attached via a series of wires/harnesses or it can work wirelessly through a transmitter on the device which is capable of both sending and receiving energetic frequencies. Most often, children and animals receive biofeedback from a wireless signal.

What is it used for? The Quantum SCIO Biofeedback Device can be used for energy balancing for countless imbalances of body, mind, or spirit. It has been used to recover from physical or emotional traumas as well as to remove stressful influences to allow the body to heal on its own.

Schedule a consultation. If you have questions about biofeedback therapy or you would like to schedule a session for yourself, your family, or your animals please call 608-799-8326 or send a request via http://NaturallyUnbridled.com/contact.

Why is water important?

Water is critical (let me emphasize CRITICAL here) for cellular and metabolic functions.

Water is needed to dissolve and transport water-soluble vitamins like all of the B vitamins and vitamin C.

Water conducts electricity – including nerve impulses that communicate between your cells and your brain etc.

Water keeps the blood fluid so it can transport nutrients, oxygen, and cellular waste through the body.

Signs of dehydration:

Low energy level

Constipation – firm bowel movements and/0r less than one bowel movement per day.

Inflammation

Weakened immune system

Brain fog

You are 80% Water

How much water should I drink?

The rule of thumb is half your body weight (in ounces) of water per day. So if you weigh 150 lbs, you would need approximately 75 ounces of water per day. More if you are lactating or sweating.

Water math:

150 lbs. person (suggested 75 ounces of water per day)

80% water

= 120 lbs. of water in a 150 lbs. person

= 14.37 gallons of water in a 150 lbs. person

If you drink a gallon of water per day (128 ounces – significantly more than the rule of thumb) you will give each of your cells a bath about once every two weeks.

If you drink the suggested 75 ounces of water per day, your cells will get a bath about once per month.

When was the last time your cells had a bath?

Not everything wet counts as water. In fact, theonlything I consider to be an OK water substitute is caffeine-free, all natural herbal tea. Caffeine is a diuretic which means it makes you pee; therefore taking wateroutof the body – so for every caffeinated beverage you have, you need double that volume in additional water. I consider caffeinated drinks to be anti-water because they actually dehydrate you. High-sugar drinks like soda, punch, and fruit juices do not count either.

Coffee = Anti-Water

Anti-Water

Coffee

Energy Drinks

Caffeinated Soda

Iced Tea

Caffeinated tea

If there is one single, solitary thing that you can do each day to support your health, it’s drinking water. Start your day with a pint glass of water to get your body detoxifying. Continue to drink at least 5 ounces of water every hour you are awake. Your urine should be clear – not yellow. You can use that as an indicator of proper hydration. (If you are taking B vitamins, you may temporarily have bright yellow urine.) Countless clients have told me that since they increased their water intake and decreased their anti-water intake, their health and energy levels improved dramatically. How simple can it get?

Do you keep thinking that you need to make some changes to improve your life and health but you don’t know what to do? Do you keep trying the same things but you don’t get the results you’re striving for? Do you feel like you just need a little direction so that you can move forward? Do you need to jumpstart your health?

Many people wait to hit bottom before they make a change in their health regimen. Others do so when they have a bit of a health scare or have reached a level of frustration with their current state of health. Some people just hit a plateau and can’t seem to break through to achieve their desired results.

Most people do the best that they can but they lack the knowledge, skills, and strategies to make significant progress toward their health goals. Some people need a 6-week coaching program, others 6-months – but some people just need a roadmap, an action plan, and to be pointed in the right direction and they can take it from there – they need a jumpstart.

In an effort to support people at all levels on their path to wellness, I am offering a Jumpstart Your Health customized coaching program to give you the roadmap, the tools, and the confidence to make the progress you’ve been seeking.

To bump it up a notch, I’m throwing in some bonuses too.

The Jumpstart begins with a dietary analysis. It includes some 1-on-1 live coaching along with a customized action plan just for your specific wellness goals. I’m throwing in a copy of my cookbook, a free recording of your call, and a follow-up call in case you get stuck. For more information and to register, go to http://tinyurl.com/NUjumpstart

Not once, but twice, today I got in my car and a “Wellness” show came on Public Radio. Being a wellness junkie, my ears perked up. The introduction to the show claimed to be bringing me “What’s new in healthy living, some down-to-earth advice, and some great lifestyle tips to help you (me) get the most out of life.” Awesome! Bring it on!

You see, at this point I was thinking that I was about to hear the local A.M. radio guy who talks about natural health; after all I was promised “healthy living, down-to-earth, and great lifestyle tips.” I love these things. This is not what was delivered.

Let the (health) deception begin. One caller complained that when she had 2-3 alcoholic drinks that she had debilitating stomach pain for days afterwards. The doc’s advice was to take over-the-counter acid-reducing drugs – not as directed mind you – take double the dose before going out for the night, then just before you start drinking take a dose of a different over-the-counter acid-reducer, and then when you wake up in the morning, take another double-dose of the first drug. This is when the yelling began.

Stomach acid is critical for proper digestion and nutrient absorption. It is not “harmless” to shut down your stomach acid production (which is what the drugs he recommended do) – and they do this at their recommended doses, never mind at DOUBLE the dose on the package. Clients of mine who have been taking these products for extended periods of time all complain of significant digestive issues – until we get them off of them.

At 7 minutes and 52 seconds into the show the caller reported having gone to the hospital for this once. The doc’s at the hospital gave her pain medicine and the caller reported that they “didn’t scope me or anything”. (I’ll assume she had lousy insurance.) She also said that it was painful when they pushed on (palpated) her stomach. Ulcer anyone?

Beyond the obvious – your body is rejecting alcohol so stop drinking alcohol. As a holistic practitioner, I’m about finding the imbalance and restoring balance to the body. Shutting down the acid production in the stomach is creating more imbalance. I was screaming “Slippery elm bark!”, “Essential oils!” “Enzymes!” and other holistic remedies at the radio.

Coincidentally, the next caller spoke about having GERD (gastric esophageal reflux disease). She said that no over-the-counter antacids helped and was asking about having surgery to reduce the size of the opening from her esophagus to her stomach. The doc thought this was a perfect solution. Again, the screaming: “Chiropractic!” “Acupuncture!” “Essential oils!”

There was no talk of diet. There was no talk of lifestyle (as we had been promised in the introduction). There was just recommendations of large amounts of drugs and surgery. This is the sad state of “healthcare” today when a radio show that touts itself as being health-focused is simply creating a culture that thinks drugs + surgery = health. (sigh)

As I always say, there is a time and a place for drugs and surgery; it’s just not the place to start. Find a natural health professional who will seek to help you to restore balance in your body so that the symptoms can go away on their own. Don’t just cover up your symptoms with chemicals and cutting. The symptoms are your body’s way of telling you that something is out of balance. Seek to restore balance instead of squelching your symptoms.
